Tomorrow’s Yesterday
“We are all ancestors of tomorrow.”
— Rebecca Solnit
As a multi-disciplinary artist, my creative practice spans the realms of sculpture, bricolage, assemblage, painting, and video. These expressions are situational, flowing from a deep curiosity for materials ( almost like the instinct of a baby trying to lick whatever is within reach as a way of understanding ) and the shifting nature of my own movement. Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, I found my early world shaped by a passion for language—where reading and writing were essential acts of making. Now, more than half of my existence has been spent traversing the Pacific, living between Jakarta, Penang, Chicagoland, and here in Los Angeles.
My art is forged in the tension between a semi-nomadic reality and an innate longing for home. Through the cycles of packing and unpacking, I investigate the borderlines—geographical, materialistic, spiritual, and linguistic—observing how they bleed into one another. The materials I select reflect my current season and surroundings, serving as a compass to navigate my place within the domestic and the local in relation to the world outside.
